The Phoenix Police Sergeants and Lieutenants Association (PPSLA) just learned today that our next police chief will be Jeri Williams.
The competitive process had to sort through 60 candidates and it was evident, early on that Chief Williams was a strong candidate. Although she is currently the Police Chief in Oxnard, CA, she is coming back home to Phoenix where she had previously served for two decades, most recently as Assistant Chief.
Chief Williams comes to us with positive reviews from the police union in Oxnard, as well. They confirmed what we already know about her. She is a proven leader through good times and bad. She knows how to build partnerships with key stakeholders which aid in combating crime and making our community safe. She is a professional leader who gives it to you straight and honest, and she welcomes genuine feedback without holding grudges.
PPSLA welcomes Chief Williams and wishes her the best as she embarks on her next chapter of her career.
